Oklahoma’s severe weather is the leading cause of roof storm damage across the state. Each weather type creates a distinct damage profile:

• Hail damage — Impact from hailstones cracks shingle tabs, strips granules, dents metal components, and compromises the waterproof integrity of the surface. Damage is not always visible from the ground, which is why post-storm professional assessments matter.
• Wind damage — High-velocity winds get under shingle edges and lift them, break the adhesive seal strips, and in severe cases remove entire sections. Ridge cap shingles and roof edges are the most vulnerable points.

Not all roof repair needs follow a storm. Age and material breakdown create vulnerabilities that develop gradually:

• Shingle curling, cracking, or brittleness signals the end of serviceable life and the beginning of infiltration risk
• Flashing corrosion or separation at chimneys, valleys, and penetrations — the leading cause of persistent, hard-to-locate leaks
• Sealant breakdown around pipe boots, vents, and skylights that allows moisture to track down into the structure
• Nail pops that lift shingles slightly and break the waterproof barrier without any visible surface damage
• Granule loss on aging asphalt shingles that leaves the underlying mat exposed to UV degradation and accelerated weathering
• Sagging or soft spots in the roof deck caused by years of moisture cycling through underlayment that was never designed to handle prolonged exposure

Some damage demands immediate attention regardless of scheduling or budget:

• Fallen tree limbs or branches that crush sections of the roof or puncture through to the decking below
• Flying debris during high-wind events that creates punctures or dislodges multiple components simultaneously
• Any damage that exposes the interior of the home to open weather requires emergency temporary protection before permanent repairs can be scheduled
• Animal intrusions through damaged vents or lifted flashing that create open entry points and compound existing structural vulnerabilities
• Fire or smoke damage to roof decking and insulation that requires full evaluation before any cosmetic repairs are considered
• Satellite dish or antenna installations that were improperly mounted and left unsealed penetrations that have been allowing water infiltration undetected
