Mustang fills the southeast corner of Canadian County, with 19,879 residents at the 2020 census and a single ZIP code, 73064. It began as a farm town with a post office in 1895 and a plat filed in 1901, then grew into an Oklahoma City bedroom community starting in the 1960s.
SH 4 follows Mustang Road north toward I-40 and Yukon, and it shares about a mile with SH 152 between Mustang Road and Sara Road. We roof homes on both sides of those roads, from older streets near the center of town to newer additions farther out.
Mustang Public Schools ties much of the town together. Mustang High School on S Snyder Dr is the district’s only high school, and elementaries such as Lakehoma, Mustang Trails and Prairie View sit in the neighborhoods we serve. Wild Horse Park, home to city hall, the library and the Fourth of July fireworks, sits at 1201 N Mustang Rd.
The weather here can turn quickly. An EF0 tornado touched down in Mustang on April 26, 2016, flattening a barn and carrying a carport roof several hundred yards. On October 13, 2021, high winds ripped shingles loose and tore part of a roof off a home in a new subdivision.
Mustang’s Community Development office at 1501 N Mustang Rd handles roofing codes and permits, and we check its current requirements before work starts. Homeowners with a homestead exemption may also qualify for a state grant toward a FORTIFIED roof.
