Yukon is a Canadian County city of 23,630 people as of the 2020 census, using ZIP codes 73085 and 73099. Its town plat was filed on February 14, 1891, and it incorporated in 1901. Route 66 and State Highways 4 and 92 run through town, and I-40 passes just to the south.
The city calls itself the Czech Capital of Oklahoma. The Czech Hall on N Czech Hall Road has held Saturday night dances since 1925, and the Oklahoma Czech Festival fills town on the first Saturday of October. Most homes here fall within Yukon Public Schools, home of the Millers.
Storms keep Yukon roofs busy. On May 8, 2026, spotters reported hail up to golf-ball size around town, and the Storm Prediction Center logged a 59 mph gust just north of the city. On August 7, 2026, wind snapped seven or eight power poles along Richland Road west of Yukon.
The City of Yukon publishes its own residential roofing guidelines. They call for a roof permit before work begins, posted where it can be seen from the street, and solidly sheathed decking with no gaps wider than a quarter inch under asphalt shingles. We check the current version with the city before every job.
